Never in my lifetime has a visit to Dumas, Arkansas been on my bucket list. But, like most small southern towns, there is a treasure tucked away in downtown Dumas--Miller's Mud Mill. About thirty years ago Gail Miller began making pottery as a hobby. Now, her beautiful, wheel-turned pottery is a thriving business.
Her contemporary pieces are created for today's busy lifestyle. Each piece is designed to go from the shelf to the oven or microwave, then to the table and finally, into the dishwasher. She is an expert, not only in the plying of her art, but in her custom glazes and one-of-a-kind creations from complete sets of tableware to ovenware and exotic vases.
Thankfully, here in Fort Smith, we do not have to trek to Dumas to enjoy these lovely, functional art pieces. Instead, we can head over to Inscriptions, located in Greenpoint Center, 4300 Rogers Avenue. Shop owner Delana Taylor has carefully selected several color patterns and custom pieces for our shopping pleasure. Unique bowls, coffee mugs that come with a thumbprint for easy holding, gorgeous platters, and incredible vases make lovely holiday gift pieces.
Inscriptions shoppers can also find other items for those on their gift list. For example, Vera Bradley bags in the latest designs are stocked in a wide assortment of styles and colors. Seasonings for those holiday dips and winter soups, and an array of hot beverage choices including spiced cider, wassail, Artistic Bean organic coffee beans, add a savory touch to the season. And don't forget those little items to blend with past treasures: trees with custom themes, ornate decorations in contemporary colors, and of course, the holidays require the traditional Christmas elf!
Tree skirts, napkins, stocking stuffers, and incredibly unique gifts are all awaiting you at Inscriptions.
